Cleaved Into

Cleaved Into (2022), NEUSCHLOSS.

A resource game pack produced for LU Arts, Loughborough University for use with their public sculpture collection sited at Loughborough University and wider imaginings of public sculpture. Its resources, available to Loughborough students and visitors invite open-ended playful engagement with historically significant and contemporary public artworks, and foreground their encounter within everyday life. The pack, designed by Mark El-Khatib consists of a box containing a map, A5 booklets giving instructions and NEUSCHLOSS generated writing samples presented as examples of game play, and a set of nine prompts cards visually evocative of Tarot cards.

Cleaved Into was shared as a play-through workshop at How Artists Teach, a conference convened in 2023 by Glasgow School of Art and University of the Arts Helsinki.

NEUSCHLOSS is a group of staff and postgraduate students at Northumbria University, who share an interest in collaborative and collective art making. In this iteration NEUSCHLOSS is Charles Danby, Lesley Guy, Allan Hughes, Kate Liston, Tom O’Sullivan and Mark Rohtmaa-Jackson.
